thoorsday
the fire that drives you will also burn you a little.
my music taste started with my step dad's cd collection. disturbed, soulfly, sepultura, slipknot, creedence clearwater revival, the cranberries, rammstein (and way too much more to list...) were always around growing up. he loved collecting full discographies, and that trait definitely rubbed off on me.
from my mom it was a completely different soundtrack: paulina rubio, jenni rivera, gloria trevi, los temerarios, kumbia kingz, cumbia, reggaeton, and those random mixed cds from the swap meet that somehow ended up everywhere.
i was ripping and burning everything. youtube to mp3, importing it into itunes, fixing metadata bc i couldn't stand listening to tracks named things like "Pi3rc3 th3 v3il - cArApHeRnElIa".
at one point i had the entire juicy j discography on an ipod nano… which i tragically lost somewhere in tennessee.
the face markings are simple svg paths layered over the portrait. they're positioned with css so they sit right on the eyes and mouth, like little hand-drawn edits on top of the photo.
the portrait and song files are being pulled in from hosted media instead of living inside the page itself, which keeps the post lighter and lets the player swap tracks without reloading the whole thing.
the platform logos in the drawer are svg too. a bunch of anchor tags wrap the nav links, external platform buttons, and route changes so the page still works like a regular blog post even though it feels more interactive.
the music widget runs on a small javascript script that updates the audio source, progress state, drawer credits, and active queue item together. the tracklist also works like a button list that jumps straight to the song you want, and the hamburger icon is there to reveal artist information and platform links.
anyway, completely unrelated, but i'm craving something sweet. i kind of want to bake bread, but it's way too late for all that kneading, rising, shaping, and waiting for it to rise again. maybe another night. i'm honestly just waiting for this quarter to be over because school has me tired.
